PTFE lined valve for
extremely aggressive fluids
Many processes in the Steel, Plastics and Chemical Industries involve the use of highly corrosive and lethal chemicals that require valves made of special materials. The Samson-Pfeiffer range of lined control valves, butterfly valves, ball valves and reactor outlet valves meet these requirements.
The valves are available in standard sizes from 1" to 6" and ANSI ratings of 150 to 300. The isostatically formed PTFE liner is 1/4" to 1/2" thick which greatly increases the liner's permeation resistance. Additionally, where risk of explosions is present special conductivity lining is available as well as special Plug and Seat materials such as ceramics and Tantalum or others. |
The Type 1A valve shown is equipped with a Zero leak bellow seal and backup stuffing box for additional safety. Depending upon the operating conditions such as pressure and temperature, the Guaranteed Cycle Life of the bellows is in excess of 750,000 full cycles for all sizes. |

Metal Bellows in Control Valves
As the demand for environmental protection and lower toxic emission values increase, Samson's 85 years of innovation and manufacturing lead to the proven design in metal bellows seals. Samson's 85 years of in-house manufacturing of metal bellows has produced the ultimate in high technology stem seals. |
The result is a modular, low cost, high quality bellows seal with high pressure-temperature capabilities
and an extra-ordinarily long cycle lifetime; guaranteed for a minimum of 100,000 full cycles in all s
izes 1/2" to 6". |
The Samson Lethal Service concept has been developed to handle highly toxic, flammable and corrosive media. The Samson bellows seals are recognized for their high quality and long life - even in severe applications such as Chlorine, Phosgene and others such as HCN - HCL - VCM - NH3 and VF3. |

Steam conditioning for
Industrial processes
Steam converters simultaneously reduce the pressure and temperature of superheated steam. These control valves consist of a steam converting valve and an actuator. Desuperheaters only reduce the temperature of the superheated steam. |
The Samson steam converting devices serve primarily for thermal energy and plant optimization. They are suitable for power stations, steam generators and district heating plants, for steam distribution networks and steam-heated production and supply systems, e.g. for the process industry, breweries, refineries, steel mills, chemical plants, the food industry, the paper and pulp industry. |

Control valves for cryogenic service
When liquefying air to produce oxygen, carbon dioxide and argon, many of the pipes on the plant are of the double-jacketed construction, which can be evacuated.
A range of valves has been designed for this application, which does not have flanged connections in the insulated section of the valve.
The low temperature insulating extension is welded to the valve body and provided with a weld-on flange at the upper end for installation purposes.
The seat is fitted from the top through the low temperature bonnet, permitting inline maintenance, without the need to take the valve out of the pipeline. |

Hygienic control valves for the food processing and
pharmaceutical industries
Sterile and low-germ processes have been gaining in importance in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries due to the ever higher requirements to manufacture purer products. A major factor in planning and designing production plants is to ensure that all components meet the highest possible hygienic standards.
Our Type 3249 control valve, designed for aseptic use, conforms to the strict specifications of the food processing and pharmaceutical industries.
They are available in body sizes from DN 15 to DN 50 and are manufactured of either DIN-WN 1.4401 or DIN-WN 1.4571 material. Surfaces can have either a ground finish or be electropolished.
External sealing is performed by an EPDM diaphragm, which is backed up by a safety stuffing box. This arrangement prevents germ contamination and product leakage. There are no dead cavities, and when the valve has been drained of the product, no residues are left behind, which could cause contamination. |

Micro-flow valve for
extremely small flow rates
To meet various requirements, the valves can be supplied with the following end connections: Screwed (G or NPT), flanges or weld-on ends.
The modular design allows a bellows seal or insulating section to be retrofitted without the need to change the internal trim.
Special fixing/locking brackets secure the valve components, ensuring that they cannot become accidentally unscrewed during operation.
A sliding clutch in the linkage between actuator and plug stem safe-guards both the interior trim and the metal bellows against damage caused by rotation. |
A mounting bracket, engineered for easy installation, makes it possible to mount the micro-flow valve either in a rack or on a 2" pipe.
Our Type 3277-5 pneumatic actuator, with an effective diaphragm area of 120 cm2, was especially developed to complement the micro-flow valve. This actuator can also be used in conjunction with valves from other manufacturers, which use either pillars or yokes for mounting the actuator.
For selecting micro-flow control valves, a special procedure has been developed, based on extensive practical tests, which have been performed in our test facility. This makes it possible to predict required Kvs values at both turbulent and laminar flows.

VETEC rotary plug valves
for critical media
Governmental air quality regulations require that flue gases produced in large power plants be denitrified and desulphurized.
In these installations, limestone is mainly used as an absorbent. This medium places high demands on the resistance of the control valve materials to erosive media.
VETEC rotary plug valves are particularly suitable for use in such services because of their special design, featuring no dead cavities and a wide cross-sectional area of flow.
In these valve models, the seat and plug can be made of ceramics, and the inlet and outlet of the valve body can be lined with ceramic materials.
VETEC has optimized these ceramic materials based on the experience gained in 45 plants worldwide, since the experience showed that the properties of ceramics used up to now did not comply with the laboratory test recommendations.
VETEC valves, however, are not only applicable for handling highly erosive milk of lime and suspensions. Users worldwide appreciate their high control accuracy, long service life, and easy serviceability, which makes them especially suitable for critical applications such as ammonia synthesis, hot-quartz control, pulverized fuel transportation and coal hydrogenation and gasification.
